The One Thing You’ll Never Get Back (and Nobody Can Sell You)

If you can afford it, go do it.

If you have the time, enjoy it.

If you can’t afford it, find a job that pays more while letting you live more.

And if you make the money but don’t have the time, your priorities are backwards.

There is one thing in this world that no amount of money can buy, and that is time.

If I’ve learned anything from the first seven months of this year, it’s this:

This has been a year of loss.

People I’ve known — healthy, strong, vibrant — have gotten sick slowly or suddenly, and they’ve passed away.

And they weren’t old.

They were in their late 30s, late 40s, early 50s, late 50s, and early 60s.

Right around that magical, fictitious stage of life we all chase, called retirement.

But have you ever stopped to really think about what retirement means?

It’s just this: the action of leaving one’s job and ceasing to work.

That’s it.

This is what we’re all working toward?

This is what we’ve been told to strive for our entire lives?

To grind ourselves down just so we can finally stop working?

It angers me.

It breaks my heart.

Because we are killing ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually just to get to this word: retirement.

And here’s the worst part.

Most of us won’t even have enough money to truly stop working anyway.

I get it — survival is a basic human need. But there’s something much deeper here.

Because no one, on their deathbed, has ever said:

“Man, I wish I would have worked more.”

You won’t find a study or story anywhere where someone wishes they had given more of their life to their job.

Because at the end of it all, it’s not about more work or even more money.

It’s about more life.

More time.

More of what actually matters.

So if you can afford it, go do it.

If you have the time, enjoy it.

If you can’t afford it, change something.

And if you’re making money but you’re missing your life, then it’s time to wake up.

You can always make more money.

But you’ll never make more time.

Ready to Wake Up?

If this hit home for you and you’re ready to stop drifting and start living on purpose, I’ve created a free checklist to help you take the first step today.

It’s called The Wake Up Checklist, and it will help you quickly see where you’re stuck, what’s stealing your energy, and what needs to change so you can take back control of your life.
